Light

The excitement is building in our home this year, the first year JH really gets the holidays, we spend each day of advent doing a special activity, we made a paper chain on the first, and each morning JH pulls one down and we count how many days are left.  It brought me back to the intense feeling I can still remember during the month of December as a child. It is so thrilling to watch my own child experience it.

Having gone to a Catholic elementary school, December 6th was especially fun because we celebrated Saint Nicholas day, mid day we would all put our shoes in the hallway and later we would find treats that Saint Nicholas brought us. We have done this with JH for two years now, it is also a day that we go through our own things to give to those less fortunate than us, JH seems more understanding of helping others this year and while he is a bit apprehensive about giving away some of his toys, he has set aside a few things :)
